Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a completely new, revolutionary method to stimulate hair growth. In just a few treatments PRP can prompt new hair growth within 3 months.
How does PRP work?
Blood is made from Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells and Platelets. Platelets, when activated in the body, exude an abundant release of healing proteins called growth factors. These growth factors create new vascular supply for the hair follicles, increase circulation, the delivery of oxygen and vital nutrition to the follicle, thus, waking up the dormant hair follicle.
How is the procedure performed?
Blood is drawn from the patient in the office, just like a routine lab test. The blood is spun in a centrifuge and the PRP is separated and removed from the rest of the blood. The scalp is cleansed. An anesthesia block is given to the nerves of the scalp so the patient doesn’t feel any pain. The PRP is injected in the affected area. The patients’ hair is washed and the patient may drive home without assistance.
